Has anyone used the Scubapro Spectra Dry Snorkel and do you recommend it? I’m buying my first snorkel. Thanks!

Hi Kim, we have not tried that specific snorkel but we can do so in a few weeks and will get back to you then with our thoughts about the Scubapro Spectra Dry Snorkel (on Amazon).
From our research, it looks like the older version of the dry top was badly designed and closed too easily cutting off air flow. This was apparently fixed in the most recent version.
Generally we prefer the bottom of the snorkel to be more hydrodynamic than the one in the Spectra, like our recommended snorkel the TUSA Hypderdry Elite II (on Amazon).
You can read more details about what snorkels we recommend on our snorkel page.

Hi again Kim, we are just back and were able to test the Scubapro Spectra Dry Snorkel in a swimming pool.
I, Nicole, can confirm that the newest model unfortunately had the same problem as the previous version. The dry valve on the top of the snorkel randomly sticks closed and completely stops you from breathing. The only way to loosen it while wearing it in this instance is to breathe out quite hard. Unfortunately, you may not have the breath for that if you are just coming up from a freedive, for example.
We cannot recommend this snorkel at this time. We still can easily recommend the TUSA Hyperdry Elite II linked to above.
Hopefully you find this info useful in making your choice.
