Snorkeling in Isla Mujeres Mexico May 2025

By Leslie

I wanted to share about my experience snorkeling in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. My husband and I just got back from a quick three night trip there in May 2025. It is a small island off the coast of Cancun. We absolutely loved it. The water was crystal clear — we saw some nice tropical fish but no coral (we weren’t close to the reef and were just snorkeling from shore on this trip).

We stayed at Mia Reef Resort, which has beautiful water all around and some surprisingly nice snorkeling around its lagoons. Mia Reef is all-inclusive and we were surprised how good the food was.

We rented a golf cart and went over to Garrafon de Castilla (not to be confused with Garrafon Reef Park right next door). We did some nice snorkeling from shore — they have beach chairs, umbrellas, etc., which are included in the price of admission ($15 US per person). There is a small bar and restaurant on the property.

Overall, a nice quick trip from Florida!
