My First Time Snorkeling at Molokini Crater

Green sea turtle getting air at the surface in Kapalua Bay Maui
Kapalua Bay, Maui 09/2016

I remember the first time I snorkeled in 2008; I was in Maui at the Molokini Crater and I have to say that was kinda of a crazy way to start snorkeling, I was very nervous! Comes to turn out that I fell in love and haven’t stopped. My pictures are from later experiences, not Molokini.

On Maui, I also did some snorkeling from the shore and experienced my first swim with a Honu (Hawaiian word for a sea turtle).

I have been snorkeling many places since: Kauai, Jamaica, Cozumel, Akumal, Isla Mujeres, Roatan, Guanaja, Belize and have found that the Caribbean is my home away from home.

On Isla Mujeres we had a once in a lifetime experience being able to swim with Whale Sharks and Manta Rays. It was the best day of my life. In a 12 mile radius there were over 150 Whale Sharks, I didn’t have to swim much, they were coming from everywhere.
