Great Snorkeling Turneffe Island Resort Belize

Pair of Spotted Eagle Rays we saw while snorkeling Turneffe Island Resort Belize

My wife and I just did the Snorkeling Turneffe Island Resort Belize trip, and the snorkeling was fantastic. It’s great to go out several times a day to different sites and find lots of fish, rays, and amazing coral. And to jump in the water and find a school of fish who just want to swim with you for the next hour as you drift along.

Our guide from Ben’s team was an excellent resource about snorkeling, freediving, and photography.

The coral was healthy, the fish were diverse, and eagle rays – what can you say.

Already thinking about another trip to Belize.

  1. We spent a week at Turneffe in February 2023. The trip was perfect. Marcus, Ben’s guide was awesome. The resort was exceptional. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier. The water was clear, the coral healthy, and there were creatures everywhere. Our trip to the Blue Hole and Half Moon Caye was fabulous (and uncrowded since we arrived early before all the dive boats).

  2. Thank you Todd and Earle for posting recently regarding snorkeling Turneffe Atoll in Belize.

We were scheduled to go this February but tested positive for COVID a few hours before heading to the airport. Fortunately we had trip insurance as there were, understandably, no refunds from the resort.

Your reports make us want to try again for this destination!

  3. My husband and I had a wonderful snorkeling adventure at Turneffe Island.

There were many varieties of coral, all healthy and gorgeous. It was like being in an underwater garden! And we saw fish we had never seen before, and a hawksbill turtle and nurse shark. I was quite excited to discover large angelfish for the first time.

Marcus, our guide from Ben’s team, made sure everything ran smoothly. He took some really amazing videos of the sea life, including us snorkelers, and sent them to everyone. I watch them and share with friends.

The area around the island is a protected marine sanctuary which is patrolled regularly so there is no problem with overfishing.

The resort itself is lovely, good food and friendly staff. We are definitely planning a return trip.
