Snorkeling Glover’s Reef Atoll, Belize 2016 Trip Report

By Lee – (Fort Myers, FL USA)
I wanted to share my trip report from snorkeling Glover’s Reef Atoll in Belize. My husband and I have traveled to Belize many times to snorkel the barrier reef. In the past we have either stayed on the mainland or on Ambergris Caye.

This time, we decided to travel to Glover’s Reef and stay at Off the Wall Resort. It is a remote atoll 1 1/2 hours, by boat, from Dangriga.

THIS IS THE MOST OUTSTANDING SNORKELING WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! The pristine water, abundant coral reefs, amazing fish, rays, nurse sharks, ALL within a short kayak trip from the resort.

We like being independent, when we snorkel. We used their complimentary kayaks to snorkel to all the many reefs. We snorkeled for hours and hours. No need for wetsuits or flotation. The water was warm and calm and so clear.

If you wish to have snorkeling adventures by boat, the great staff will be sure to take you out in their boat to their favorite snorkeling spots.

The resort is exactly how it is described by the reviewers on TripAdvisor. Please note: this is an eco-friendly resort with “off the grid” living. Mind you, it is not tent living at all. We stayed in a cute cabana with private deck right on the water. Composting toilets (actually not bad at all!) and rainwater showers. The owners and staff are amazing.

If you are interested in fabulous snorkeling and don’t want to spend hours traveling, I highly recommend Belize. It’s only two hours from Houston or Dallas airports. We will definitely go back to Belize again.
