We’re headed to Duck Key in the Florida Keys in March 2020. Has anyone been snorkeling that area? Advice or opinions? Thank you.

Well, the good news is you will be in the Middle Keys where we found the best snorkeling in the Keys. Nearly all of the snorkeling in the Keys is done by boat, and that is true near Duck Key, too.

Nearly every spot in our list of the Best Keys Snorkeling is a short drive from Duck Key and then a boat trip out. Don’t miss taking a boat out to Sombrero Reef from Marathon, just south of Duck Key. And Alligator Reef Lighthouse and Cheeca Rocks are fun to snorkel by boat from Robbie’s Marina on Islamorada to the north of Duck Key.

Hope you have a great time snorkeling near Duck Key in the Florida Keys.

Be sure to check out Looe Key. It’s off of Big Pine Key, with several boats going out there each day. Most will be two-stop tours, since the reef is so big.

And never discount snorkeling bay-side.

Looe Key is certainly possible, just a bit farther south of Duck Key. We wrote a page about Looe Key here.
