Any Good Snorkeling on Caye Caulker Belize?

Is there any good snorkeling on Caye Caulker, Belize? I was wondering if there is any advantage to staying on Caye Caulker when visiting Belize as compared to Ambergris Caye.

Caye Caulker is more laid back and a bit less touristed than Ambergris Caye. But we do not believe there is any good snorkeling from shore on Caye Caulker, so you will need to take boat trips out to the reef.

We know that they run trips up to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley, the same as would happen from Ambergris. But you probably will also be able to snorkel some of the closer reef cuts near Caye Caulker, at North Pass and at South Pass. The barrier reef is a bit over a mile from Caye Caulker.

You may just want to call ahead of time and confirm what trips are available, because it may be more limited than at Ambergris. Have fun!

Caye Caulker has the same trips available with many different companies as Ambergris does. There is some great snorkeling in Caye Caulker at the split! Caye Caulker is just a much more chill, laid back island than Ambergris!

I snorkeled at the Split and there was nothing there. Skip it. Book a trip out to the reef. It is around $30 and well worth it.

My wife and I traveled to Caye Caulker last February and had a wonderful time.

Laid back, easy going lifestyle and fewer tourists on Caye Caulker than you’ll find elsewhere. The water inside the reef is clear and shallow, but little to discover other than a sandy bottom. It takes a short boat ride to get to the reef and a world of discovery.

A local resident recommended French Angel Expeditions for snorkeling and we couldn’t have been happier.

Our tour group was small (only four of us) and the guides kept us ahead of the numerous and HUGE tour groups that come from San Pedro!

My wife and I will be booking with French Angel Expeditions again!!!
