Snorkel Mask For A Large Nose?

by Maryann Miller
(San Carlos, Panama)

Do you have any recommendations for a snorkel mask or mask maker that accommodates a larger nose? We live in Panama and there are remarkably no good dive equipment shops, so we have to rely on recommendations, and order online. Thanks.

Bit Surprised
by: Nica Bryan

I'm a bit surprised to read about your quandry, as I had read snorkeling supplies were readily available in Panama City. There's an outfit there that arranges trips to the San Blas Islands, associated with a hostel, I believe, so you might check with them. I'll see if I can find contact information.

We face a similar problem in Nicaragua, and speaking from experience, I can say that online mask shopping is a hit or miss proposition, at best.

Best of luck, and please post your Panamanian snorkeling experiences. We hope to visit there in the next year or so.

Try These Guys

This isn't the info that I originally had in mind, but perhaps it will help. Google Red Frog Beach at Bocas del Toro (NE Caribbean coast, Panama). The website is very well done and I'll bet they can help you find a mask. Sounds like a very nice place, as well. Best of luck.
