Is There Good Snorkeling at Buck Island off St. Croix, USVI?

by Julie

Have any of you been snorkeling at Buck Island off St. Croix within the past 1-2 years (2018-2019)? We are planning our first trip to St. Croix, USVI (after five trips to St. John) and can't decide whether it's worth going out to Buck Island. I have found a lot of positive reviews from people who sound like inexperienced snorkelers and YouTube videos generally show lots and lots of dead coral with marine life that can be spotted by swimming from a beach.

I would appreciate any insights from this more experienced group of snorkelers.

Thank you.

Probably Not

It has been six years since we spent time at St. Croix. Whereas we found some decent snorkeling around the island, Buck Island was not worth the time. You can review my post on St. Croix snorkeling on this site.
