Getting Another Snorkeler's Attention?

by debbieo

Any ideas for getting another snorkeler's attention? Hubby and I snorkel together, sometimes close and sometimes we wander apart. Close or far apart, we often have trouble getting the other one's attention when we have found something exciting to share. Hubby doesn't seem to hear my shouts and often when I lift my head out of the water I lose sight of the find.

We have tried a rattle without success. Slapping the water doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?

Shout Out

I have a whistle on a string that I carry attached to my belted valuables box. It is high pitched and cuts through ambient noise (splashing water, wind, etc.).

My husband clips a simple 5 foot leash to his waist. I hold onto the end and it lies slack as we paddle around. When I want his attention, I give the leash a couple of tugs. Works great, and we don't get lost from each other; we can pay attention to the fish.

A simple dog training clicker will work on short distances (up 50 meters).
