Exclusive Mangel Halto Snorkel Scooter Tour, Aruba

by Gerry
(Charlotte, NC)

I took an exclusive snorkel scooter tour of Mangel Halto the first week in December 2015 with Aruba Bob. I wanted to do this on my own (I am a solo), but am glad I booked my tour with this company.

There are very strong currents and you must watch for boats entering and exiting the cut. Aruba Bob has these underwater scooters that propel you through the water with 3 different speeds. I thought they would scare away the fish, but they did not. I definitely needed the scooter for the trip back in as I would have been wiped without it.

The water in this area has a high salt content which makes it more difficult to dive down because you are more buoyant, but with the scooter it was a breeze.

Also the guide kept his eye out for boats so I could concentrate on snorkeling.

This is the best spot on Aruba hands down. Abundantly healthy reef of hard and soft corals at varying depths. Multitudes of fish and critters, with many schools. I saw a school of Obtuse Barracuda which I had never seen before.

Plus the guide takes pictures of the entire trip and sends them to you for free. Where does that ever happen? These guys love what they do and are experts on Mangel Halto as their tour only goes there.

If I go back, I would do it again with them as they take care of everything and I got about 1 1/2 hours of water time which was enough. Book an exclusive tour if you can afford it, worth every penny.
