Better Snorkeling in Cabo Pulmo or Zihuatanejo, Mexico?

We are considering a trip to Cabo Pulmo or Zihuatanejo, Mexico and are wondering which place has better snorkeling. My husband and I will be traveling for a week in November, 2020 and I would like to go to a place that has fish we haven't seen before. We've never been to the tropical eastern Pacific. If anybody has been to either of these places, we'd like to know what you thought of it. We're aware that Cabo Pulmo is very much off the beaten path and that the water clarity in Zihuatanejo won't be as good as what we're used to in the Caribbean and Hawaii.

Thank you.

Cabo Pulmo

Cabo Pulmo is a nice place for snorkeling if you are in that region and it has had good visibility. When I was there (February) there were some waves so it was not too easy to snorkel.

But Cabo Pulmo is not one of the lifetime top places snorkelers have to go. Some underwater rocks with some nice fish. It is all accessible from just one beach so its attractions are mostly seen within one morning.

Okay, I´m a very pampered snorkeler who has snorkeled French Polynesia, Red Sea, Indonesia etc. So visit Cabo Pulmo and you will not be really disapointed, but don´t expect more than 20 or so species.

Zijuatenejo Was Not good for Us

Maybe it was the time of year? The snorkeling was murky; the coral dull. Plus a bad experience renting a ride from a guy with no ladder on his boat. Be careful & don’t drink the water, ice or salads, etc.
