Where We Buy Snorkeling Equipment (& Snorkel Cameras)
You will find us suggesting where to buy snorkeling equipment (and cameras for snorkeling) on this site, and we thought you might like to know about our experience with these companies.
First, just so you know, if you do buy some things from the links we provide, you help support this site (they give us a little bit of the purchase price, at no increase in price to you), which is great.
But we only recommend companies that we have experience with and really like. And they have the best prices.
Amazon.com
We have shopped online at Amazon.com for years. It is a great place to get stuff before a trip because you can get so many things at once, from great prices on travel books, to luggage, to snorkel gear, to cameras, to you name it. We often find ourselves trying to think of what else we need to put into one order. The prices are excellent, and you can often get free shipping if you buy several items at once. Plus people leave a lot of reviews about the products on Amazon, which can be very useful (if taken with a grain of salt - some people just attract trouble to themselves). I have gotten some stellar deals on underwater housings for cameras on Amazon.
B&H Photo
I have been buying camera equipment from this NY company for over twenty years. They mostly cater to professional photographers. They have a massive selection, very good customer service, and almost always the best prices. In fact I use them as a price safety gauge. If you can find a camera for significantly less money than they are charging at B&H Photo, you should wonder why. More often than not it will be a grey market camera, or there will be some other nasty catch.
Adorama Photo
Like B&H photo, these guys have been around for ages, and are well respected. They are right down the street from each other in NY, and have a huge store. I have been buying from them almost as long as from B&H. All and all this is my second favorite place to buy camera gear from online. Their customer service is maybe just a notch below B&H. But sometimes they will have free shipping when B&H doesn't, or a slightly lower price, so I will go with them.
LeisurePro
For snorkeling gear online, this is my favorite choice. They are actually owned by Adorama Photo, and are right next to each other in the same building in NY. So that gives me some confidence since I have such buying history with Adorama. We have bought many items from LeisurePro and it is has always been an excellent experience. You can actually buy from LeisurePro on Amazon.com for most items, if you are more comfortable shopping at Amazon. One nice thing about LeisurePro (besides the best prices), is they have good return policies. On some snorkeling items you can order it, and when it arrives if it is not the right fit, you can send it back, and they will keep sending you different sizes until it is right, without any shipping charges to you. Look for the PFF guarantee on the item your are looking at.
We will add more companies that you can buy from to help support us in the future.
Thanks!
