Any suggestions for an easy beach snorkeling spot, or the best/cheapest snorkeling tour for young children in Florida or Florida Keys? The kids are 5 & 8 years old.

Where to snorkel with kids in Florida?
There's a place named John Pennekamp State Park around Key Largo or Islamorada. I think they have some excursions for kids. I've heard from several people about Crystal Lake, but the other day a lady was telling about going there. She said the manatees would come up and play with you and nuzzle you and that sort of thing. Sounded like something kids would like. I'm sure Galen knows a lot more about this but I just thought I'd throw it out to you while I'm on the site.

The Keys by: Galen & Nicole
Unfortunately there are not really any good beach access snorkeling spots in the Keys. You can snorkel from the beach in Pennekamp State Park, and at Bahia Honda State Park, but it is not of any quality. You may see some fish, but no corals or any other reef structures. So for the Keys you would have to take a boat trip. And so long as your kids know how to snorkel, and the weather is calm, you would probably be fine on a variety of trips that are offered out of the Keys. They all pretty much cost the same.
As for snorkeling in other areas in Florida from the beach I am not sure. Maybe my friend Dave will chime in with some suggestions for snorkeling around Destin, Florida???
