Where Is The Best Snorkeling On St. Lucia?

by Friechy

I would like to find where the best snorkeling is on St. Lucia the first week of this April. I want to make the most of my time for a 4-day trip.

My hotel is off the beach near Soufriere, north of the Pitons on the west coast. I will have a car and prefer not to be at the mercy of packaged day trips... A boat rental is a possibility, if it will be the best way to access a really good site.

Thanks for any insight.

3 Snorkeling Spots In St. Lucia
by: Anonymous

I explored many places in St Lucia (in 2008 but I took some notes).

The best snorkeling spots are near Soufrieres (not in the north), in particular:

- At the beach in front of the former "Jalousie Plantation Resort", now called "Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort". In 2008 you had to go through the resort to access the beach, but it was no problem at all. It is in between the Pitons (volcanic mountains rising from the sea). The corals are fixed to the volcanic rocks and in terms of corals and underground landscape it's my best snorkeling memory.

- At the Anse Chastanet Resort. I liked very much the snorkeling here. On the left close to the diving club it's very nice, but on the right (you need to swim a little bit) I saw turtles.

- Also very nice snorkeling at Anse Cochon Beach. It has corals, nice fishes and turtles.
