Wailea Beach, South Maui

by John A.
(Scottsdale, AZ)

I snorkeled Wailea back in 2007 with a local friend. Parking was convenient with a short walk down a narrow path through some bushes to the beach.

The beach is beautiful with fine, white sand. Entering the water you find a sandy bottom. The snorkeling is found on the left side of the beach.

Swim along the left side and you will find many colorful fish. Continue along the coast to discover tons of turtles. My friend and I turned back before getting all the way around the point.

Follow Galen and Nicole's advice and avoid the snorkeling in the afternoon when the trade winds pick up.

Great Snorkeling Review!

John, thanks for the excellent report on the snorkeling at Wailea Beach. We are going back to Maui in a few months and plan on visiting Wailea Beach. Hopefully the winds will be light and we can check it our for ourselves.
