Suggestions for Snorkeler Traveling Alone in the Caribbean?

I am a very serious, experienced snorkeler. I am an older lady and I will probably be traveling alone so something fairly safe where others would probably be snorkeling would be good. I want to stay somewhere in the Caribbean where there is excellent snorkeling just off the beach of the resort/condo/hotel. Probably two weeks or more depending on the price. I'm not interested in fancy - just great snorkeling and occasionally some food. I'm not too good at facebook but appreciate your time in suggesting some places that might be a good fit for me. I have not been to Bonaire so that might be a start.

Snorkeling Alone
by: Galen & Nicole

Hi. Well, I am not sure what to suggest. Bonaire may be nice for you. It is a pretty safe place to snorkel, with little currents. But there is not really much good snorkeling close to town and the resorts. You can snorkel everywhere, but you have to venture out a ways with a car, and you will often truly be alone, which is not very safe. You could go out with the snorkel tour groups, like Woodwind tours, and also take the water taxi out and snorkel Klein Bonaire. That would be safer for you because you would be with a group. But that will not be two weeks of snorkeling.

Maybe read this new post about snorkeling Grand Cayman. It sounds like nice off the beach snorkeling. And read this post about Turks & Caicos.

Anyone else have a good suggestion?

Help alone!
by: Joan

The southern part of Cozumel (Mexico) has great snorkeling. The last resort I stayed at was The Wyndham - all inclusive - and fairly inexpensive. The island of Cozumel is safe if you would care to venture off the resort. There is a dive shop if you would care to go out any further and everyone is friendly. You would be safe and see alot of great creatures.

Snorkel Grand Cayman
by: Tom Turner

I saw your post asking about safe places to snorkel. I would highly recommend Grand Cayman. It is very safe, and I really doubt that you would have any problems. Whereas I have never stayed at the Turtle Nest Inn, it looks fine from the outside, and seems to be one of the best prices on the island. You can snorkel almost anywhere from shore, but you will need to rent a car so that you can get around. You could take a taxi from the airport to where ever you stay, but you will be limited to snorkeling at their beach front. I wrote the post about Grand Cayman that Galen and Nicole reference, and it will describe several great places to snorkel. I hope this helps.
