Snorkeling with Sea Turtle at Sunset beach Oahu, HI

I took my two kids (son 9 and daughter 11)snorkeling for the first time today at Sunset Beach. After a few minutes teaching them the basics, I set them off on their adventure. For the first few minutes we snorkled hand in hand with me in the middle. Very soon they were off on their own. Some positives of this beach was the proximity of the rock formations to the shore. Both of my kids felt safe not being to far from shore. One negative was the rip currents. The beach falls off very sharply. Within twenty feet of shore the water was over their heads. This causes a swift out flow. The outflow combined with minimal waves coming in gave them problems getting into and out of the water with their masks and fins. Shortly after we started we were about 40 feet off shore looking at the rock formations when a sea turtle swam right by the three of us. He did not hang aroung long but was not in a hurry to leave. We got to watch him swim for about twenty seconds. Along with the turtle we saw about seven different kinds of fish. We probably saw about 100 total fish in about 1 1/2 hours.
