Snorkeling in Bonaire

Snorkeling in Bonaire is great, and you can mostly do it yourself from the beach (read our main page for Bonaire snorkeling tips here). But sometimes it is nice to go on a snorkeling tour, boat trip, or to have a private snorkel guide who takes you to their favorite spots and points out all the little creatures and details you would probably miss.

Snorkeling In Bonaire

Bonaire Snorkeling Guide eBook While you can probably go snorkeling with one of the many diving operations on Bonaire, I don't recommend it. They are mostly focused on diving. But there are a small handful of snorkeling only companies that run snorkel trips by boat.

Snorkel In Bonaire with Seacow
Seacow runs some very nice snorkeling trips to different spots around Bonaire and out on Klein Bonaire. They use a rebuilt traditional Venezuelan fruit vessel, painted up like a cow.

Snorkeling with Woodwind
Another very popular snorkel boat tour in Bonaire is the sailing trimaran Woodwind. They also take you out to Klein Bonaire and another spot on Bonaire. You can read lots of reviews on Tripadvisor about this trip here.

Water Taxi To Klein Bonaire
And while not guided, our favorite boat trip is to take the water taxi out to Klein Bonaire. You can read more about that here.

Keep in mind that all the above companies cater to the cruise ship crowds, and when the ship is in, you may not be able to get a seat, nor will you probably want to because it is very crowded.

Glass Bottom Boat Aquaspace
There is also a unique glass bottomed boat tour that is now back on Bonaire, the Aquaspace sailing trimaran. This boat has a deep main hull that is almost 90% glass. So it is kind of like being in a submarine. They also mention the option of snorkeling on their site, but I am not sure if they do it often. Read reviews of this trip on Tripadvisor here.

Recently the Aquaspace website went down, so we are not sure if they are still in business.

Snorkeling In Bonaire with Renee
And finally, this would not be a complete list without mentioning Renee Snorkel Tours. Renee offers private snorkeling tours on Bonaire and she is very well respected, and pretty much a Bonaire snorkeling legend. You can't hardly read a forum or review about snorkeling in Bonaire without someone recommending her.

We used her services for our first night snorkel in Bonaire, and it was a great experience.
