Oahu Snorkeling Guide
Punalu'u Beach Park

Here is another east side Oahu snorkeling spot that was too windy and cloudy on the day that we wanted to snorkel it. But we have heard there is some snorkeling here, with a protective reef, although it not supposed to be fantastic.

The beach itself is very beautiful, and the access to the water from the road is super close and easy. There are also restrooms and plenty of shade available at this park.

So go snorkel it, and share what it is like here for everyone before we can get back and try it again.

Driving Directions - Punalu'u Beach Park
Oahu Snorkeling

Driving Directions to Punalu'u Beach Park from Waikiki

Getting on H-1 from Waikiki can be challenging! Here's a good way to get on heading west towards the middle of the island. Get on Kalakaua Ave (the one way beachfront main drag). You will be heading southeast. Turn left on Kapahulu Ave and keep on it and you will go under H-1. Veer to the left on Waialae Ave and shortly on the right you will see an on ramp for H-1 West. To reach Hwy 83 on the east side heading north, you need to take one of the highways that crosses the Ko'olau Mountains, Hwy 61 (Pali Hwy), Hwy63 (Likelike Hwy), or Hwy H-3. When you come to the intersection with Hwy 83 (Kahekili Hwy), turn left, heading north. Follow Hwy 83 about halfway to the northern most tip of the island. Punalu'u Beach Park runs along the road north of Kahana Bay.
