My New Olympus Tough Snorkeling Camera

by Susan
(Columbia, SC)

I've used my Sony Cybershot (I actually have 2) in a waterproof case for a long time and did good enough shots but with my vision seeing through the mask and waterproof housing is tough. I just bought an Olympus Stylus Tough and will try it out in Maui in January. It's suppose to be waterproof without having to use the housing. I've seen several various reviews so the jury is still out until I try it. Hopefully I won't be ranting when I come back.

Waterproof Cameras

Susan, you should get good results with the Olympus Stylus Tough camera. Just be very carefull when you have it underwater that you don't bang the little camera doors into anything, and make sure and keep all the little rubber seals around the doors super clean. Every time you close them, make sure there are no little pieces of dirt or hairs in the seals. Have fun with it and share some pictures when you get back.

Camera
by: Susan Sims

Thanks for the tips! I was very hesitant to buy it and not put it in some kind of case even though that would defeat my purpose. I'm glad you said it was a good little camera because I was going to ask you about a simple underwater camera, then stumbled onto this at Sam's Club. I really respect your knowledge of cameras and photography. I just wish I knew half as much because I love taking pictures underwater and above.

Been Snorkeling 3 times with my Tough
by: Aaron

My girlfriend and I are just getting started snorkling (Been out 3 times) 4 if you count the Salt Water pool at Discovery Cove in Orlando. I picked put a Tough 8000. I am pretty happy with the camera and normally just leave it on for the enitre time I am in the water. Biggest complaint I have is I wish it had a better zoom.
