Maui Snorkeling Guide Napili Beach
We once stayed at a condo at this Maui snorkeling beach. And it is another small protected bay that offers some great snorkeling and beach lounging.

This beach is a bit steeper than Kapalua up the road, and the snorkeling is not quite as good, but it is similar. With the steeper beach we sometimes expect waves to crash pretty hard here, so we like to snorkel here on calm days.

There are two basic areas to snorkel in this bay. We have found a strip of reef/rock that cuts from left to right across the center of the bay. Across this reef we have seen lots of fish, many of them small, immature ones.

The second area is on the left hand side over the rocks when it is calm.

Driving Directions to Napili Beach from Kihei
In Kihei get on Hwy 31 (Piilani Hwy) or S Kihei Rd heading north. When you reach the intersection with Hwy 311 (Mokulele Hwy) and Hwy 310 (N Kihei Rd) turn onto Hwy 310 (N Kihei Rd) and follow to the next intersection with Hwy 30 (Honoapiilani Hwy) and turn left, heading initially south. This road is what you will follow halfway around west Maui. You will pass by Lahaina and Kaanapali and you will be turning into the Napili area onto Napilihau St. right after the 29 mile marker. Follow this until it ends and turn right onto Lower Honoapiilani Rd. Depending on how busy it is you can park on either Napili Pl (your second left), or Hui Dr (your third left), and walk down to the beach.
