Kauai Snorkeling Guide Po'ipu Beach Park
Po'ipu Beach Park is a popular Kauai snorkeling spot, that offers families all the facilities they need for hanging out on a beach for hours - restrooms, water, showers, and shade.
It offers some pretty good snorkeling, a nice beach, and you often get to see Monk Seals (see below), so we like it!

Po'ipu is also a popular spot for the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals to take a sun bath on the beach, resting from a day of fishing. If you see one, give them lots of room, because they are tired, and because there is a hefty fine for disturbing them.

Site Snorkeling Details - Po'ipu Beach Park Kauai Snorkeling
Po'ipu Beach is split in the middle into two beaches by a rocky point that leads out to a little island of patchy sand and rocks. And the best snorkeling is along the right hand side of this rocky point and out towards and inside that little island

And it is some pretty good snorkeling. There are normally tons of turtles in the area, lots of fish, of many sizes, in impressive sized schools. We have seen white eels here, and also a decent amount of colorful coral. But the underwater topography is pretty flat and boring. Fortunately all the fish make up for it.
It is sometimes cloudy close to shore, but if you swim out towards the island you will find it clears up.
