Kauai Snorkeling Guide
Ninini Beach

When staying at the Marriott, this is your closest Kauai snorkeling spot. Ninini beach is accessed by a short walk through part of the golf course near the 13th green (see more detailed driving/walking instructions below).

When we were there last, the Marriott was undergoing a big construction project, both the main buildings and parts of the golf course. So it was a little more confusing trying to find the right place to park and walk.

Kauai Snorkeling

Ninini looks like it has potential. But when we tried to snorkel it on our last trip the beach had a nasty surge and big waves, so needless to say we did not get in. You can see what it was like in the pictures. (Can you see the boys body surfing below?)

But it looks like it has potential. Once you find the beach the best snorkeling looks like it is below the rocks along the left hand side of the beach. There is shelf of rock with a good variety of coral, and we have heard there are tons of fish here.

Have you snorkeled it? Was it it like?

Driving Directions - Ninini Beach from Lihue
Kauai Snorkeling

Lihue is the airport town. This beach is accessed through Kauai Marriott Resort, which is right next to the airport. On Hwy 51 (Kapule Hwy) heading north from Rice St towards Ahukini Rd in Lihue, there is a right turn that is across the street from the stadium. It is a groomed entrance with rock wall and tiki torches. Check in at the gate and tell them you are going to Ninini Beach. Follow the road to the left. Don't be confused by the private roads, stay on this main road. Just past Marina Rd, take right hand spur and park in designated spot. (Area was under construction when we were there, so this may have changed.) Walk path through golf course, looking right and crossing the 13th green from which there is a trail to the beach.
