Honolua Bay!

We went to Maui this past September (2008). It was great! Of all the snorkeling spots we did on Maui, I have to say that Honolua was the best, hands down! I'll go so far as to say that I liked it better that Two-Step or Kealekekua on the Big Island.
While the coral was more vibrant, brilliant, and extensive at those two Big Island spots, at Honolua I saw more varied sea life, including very large fish, turtles, and an octopus.
What I also liked about Honolua is that the varying depths and structures of the coral reefs provided better and more fascinating opportunities to explore them. You could swim among and between the reefs there whereas I found at the two BI spots you swim more over them. (However, at Two-Step, because you float at such a sufficient distance over the coral, there's a better chance that those reefs will not be damaged by human or kayak contact).
