Hawaii Flights

Hawaii flights always end well. There really is something special about getting off a plane in Hawaii. You are greeted by balmy, tropical air and the lush tropical plants around the airport. But all this is made even sweeter by getting a good deal on your airfare.

You can fly to Hawaii from the mainland US via airports in Honolulu on Oahu, Kahului on Maui, Kona on the Big Island and Lihue on Kauai. It is fairly common that you will fly into Honolulu and take an inter-island flight to another island. Make sure to check this option for price differences.

Hawaii airfares vary in price depending on a lot of factors that elude me. We've flown into Honolulu, Kahului on Maui and Kona on the Big Island directly from the mainland. We prefer direct flights to ones with stops, but sometimes the deal can be worth the stop. And depending where you are coming from the stop might be absolutely necessary.

We try to stay somewhat flexible on our travel dates. This helps us find a better deal. We tend to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and that usually saves us money.

Flights to Hawaii are much higher priced in the high seasons: mid December through March and mid June through August. So, you might try to choose your travel dates outside these times to save money. Tripadvisor often has some good prices on Hawaii flights.

Be forewarned that we most often fly a red eye flight back to the mainland at the end of the trip, probably because we are going for the good deal. If that is a major issue for you, you will probably spend more on your flight.

Another quick tip: there is a movie on the flight to Hawaii, but we usually want to choose our own, so we download one to our net book and watching it really helps pass the time.

Hopefully this helps you with your search for good deals on Hawaii flights.
