Carriacou - Healthy Marine Life for Snorkeling or Not Worth the Trip?

I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable snorkelers know if Carriacou is worth the trip for good snorkeling? Is there healthy marine life to see there?

Thanks to Nicole's help, we had decided to go to St. John for our first ever Caribbean trip which sounded perfect, then sadly (thoughts with all those that live there), of course we need to look for an alternative.

Bonaire is on the list, but we thought perhaps Carriacou would still have that 'lush' feel. We've been to lots of arid islands in the past, so really looking for that tropical feel. The dream is to be able to snorkel from the beach, feel safe on the island, see parrotfish and color in general, hopefully rays and turtles too.

Many thanks.

I have not been there since this hurricane season, but several years ago I had the pleasure of anchoring in some beautiful coves and it was a favorite snorkel spot. White sandy bottoms make for gorgeous aqua waters and seeing the local sea life beautifully.

Thank you to the person who responded above. Great to know and really useful. Would love to see some colorful tropical fish, and I've heard mixed reviews about the area (although positive for turtle sightings). Thanks again and much appreciated.
