6 Turtles at Makena!

by Ben Wood

I am 12 years old and my mom and I went snorkeling off Makena landing. We snorkeled nearly all the way around the point where the 5 graves are and nearly out to where the tour boats were. We found one large turtle under a rock and then four more in the same spot! My mom saw one and then another one came along, and then another and even one more! We also saw another very large turtle on the way swimming back to the beach. It was amazing but tiring. We swam from the farthest beach away from the point because there was limited parking and the total distance of our swim was probably 2 miles! We also saw a tiny Moray Eel (probably a foot long) in shallow water just off the beach (3 or 4 feet).

It was great and we went there because of your great review.

Thanks!

Great Maui Turtle Story!
by: Galen & Nicole

That sounded like a great time Ben. You hit the turtle jackpot! Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes us both want to go back to Maui right now and swim with those beautiful sea turtles.

Did you snorkel anywhere else while in Hawaii?
